Find the triggers behind your multiple sclerosis symptoms.
Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms
Due to loss of the myelin sheath, people with severe cases of multiple sclerosis often have trouble maintaining balance or walking without assistance. Those with milder cases usually experience occasional MS flare ups of less debilitating symptoms followed by periods of remission that can last for months or even years.
While no cure currently exists, MS treatment options are available to help people manage their symptoms, slow nerve damage, and improve their quality of life. Left untreated, MS can cause permanent nerve damage, muscle weakness and eventually, paralysis.
The symptoms and triggers of MS can vary widely depending on the amount and location o the nerve damage as well as environmental factors. No typical pattern of MS symptoms applies to all cases, though vision problems are often the most noticeable early signs of the disease.
Common MS Symptoms Checklist:
- Numbness, tingling, or tremors in one or more limbs
- Impaired coordination and loss of muscle control
- Chronic fatigue
- Vision problems, including blurriness, eye pain, and partial blindness
- Dizziness
- Bladder and bowel problems
